Female Poet - The Infamous Dorise Dixon

Dorise is aspiring to become the greatest renown female African American Poet in the world. She was licensed as a minister Oct, 1998 in Austin, Texas; she is a multi-talented artist including motivational speaker, praise/worship leader, teacher, singer, dancer and writer. She attended Austin Community College in Austin, Texas and is presently continuing her education at American Intercontinental University in Atlanta, Georgia. After graduation in 2009 she will continue her education.

Doris A. Finney born on November 25, 1963 in Fort Worth, Texas: During the 1960’s through the 1980’s Dorise spent much of her years moving from Texas to California to San Francisco to Saginaw Michigan and back to California. Dorise was molested at the age of 2 which continued until she was 14 by her step-father. During a summer stay with her biological father at age 8 she was physically abused by her step-mother who, rapped and gagged her, tied her feet and hands and would lock her in closets. This would cause psychological damage over the years resulting in bad relationships, drug addition and a promiscuous lifestyle, until…….

She found Christ at age 18 and began preaching and street witnessing at Venus Beach and around the coast of California daily and every Saturday morning on her church radio broadcast show “Now is the Time”. Her pastor, Elmer Cleveland Jr. of Ephesians Church of God In Christ, in Los Angeles California, taught her the way of God more perfectly. Being prophesied to by many that she would be great one day, and that God was going to use her in the last days. Dorise started writing for comfort from her past pains; this is when she realized poetry was her voice of relief she began to receive her healing through writing.

Dorise married in 90”s while she was a Social Worker for the State of Texas; moving from Arlington Texas, to Austin she and began her Christian ministry as Senior Pastor of Open Heart Christian Center (OHCC). She and her husband preaching every Sunday.

Overcoming her life adversity Dorise is now considered as one of our great encouragers and profound poets of the 21st century. Dorise Dixon became an author in April 2007 when she published her first book, Life Poems 144 powerful poems. “A Single Independent Woman” and “The Love I thought I Found”, these two poems included in Life Poems were nominated as poems of the year in 2004 and 2005.

Dorise second book Sitting Solitary 186 eye wakening poems was published on December 23, 2008 a spiritual awakening second book of poems. Dorise 3rd book will be a novel called, “Still Missing” based on the life events. Look for it 2010!
